Sempena penerbitan antologi sajak berlima berjudul Merabak Sembah oleh Rabak-Lit, maingayong telah mengirimkan 6 soalan sama kepada semua penulis. Bermula 18 Oktober 2024 sehingga 8 November 2024, kami akan siarkan jawapan yang diberikan secara mingguan.

Antologi ini menghimpunkan 50 sajak daripada penyair yang berasal dari Utara, Selatan dan Tengah Semenanjung yang mengajak kita slow down & hidup-merafak mikrokosme kata-kata dan kekitaan. Buku ini juga adalah sebuah dokumentasi ulang tahun ke-10 tahun semua penulis ini menulis.

How is your life going?

ba.re:
Life's pretty good. I'm cruising a bit sejak masuk 30an ni. Taking my time dengan projects that I take on. Trying to eat well. Figuring out what's the balance that I want in life etc etc. Mostly content ah.

MG:
Kenapa anda sudi terlibat dalam projek antologi "Merabak Sembah" ini?

ba.re:
Jack. Dia approach with the idea and I've been wanting to see him work his big strokes. But apart from that it's just another excuse to lepak with him more sebab creatively we haven't had a lot of intersections lately (because life). But yeah it's always fun to be in a project with people of the same frequency sebab it doesn't feel like /work/ work yknow.

MG:
Apa yang anda pedulikan sepanjang memilih 10 puisi untuk dimasukkan ke dalam Merabak Sembah?

ba.re:
I'm a huge fan of the music album format. Even if people say it's a dying format etc2. Whenever I put work out I always try look at the big picture first to make sure it's cohesive as an experience so the end product (for the lack of a better work) would be enjoyable depan ke belakang and masuk akal- Like listening to a good album. Also shoutout Jack and Amir for helping out with the edits.

MG:
Puisi yang anda paling sayang dalam antologi kali ini?

ba.re:
I think if I love a poem too much I wouldn't put it out. Putting out a poem to the world is like sending your child to college yknow. Cam I've done all I can to prepare you for the world so just get out there; Whatever happens, happens. And both you and your poem/child should grow and be more from that act of letting go and letting the universe do its thing.

MG:
So, what next?

ba.re:
More art hopefully. I don't know in what form but I've accepted that I'll be in this creating space for life. I like making/doing stuff that feeds the soul and I plan to do just that until this physical body gives out. There's nothing else to do but The Work yknow.

MG:
Situasi: Saya publisher baru yang ingin terbitkan karya anda. Apa yang anda akan tulis sebagai biodata di belakang buku?

ba.re:
Weh tu kerja editor kot? As much as I like to yap about this corporeal form and it's aspirations etc I'd rather let the work do the talking. I'm also agnostic about blurbs that are just marketing gimmick. It feels too Mastika-ish and we as a civilization and especially as an art community  should collectively opt out of that stuff. Put out good work, get a good artist to do the cover artwork, put it out, live.
